Highlights From Our Recent Driver’s Safety Meeting

On March 24th, Spinning Wheels Express met to discuss driver’s safety. The basics of ELD’s were discussed and explained in various topics having to do with personal conveyance, yard moves, malfunctions and in-truck requirements. ELD’s are rules that provide grandfather provision for AOBRD’s and if AOBRD’s can be modified to meet the ELD specs (e.g., software upgrade), they can be used after December 2019.
FMCSA Rental Truck Decisions were also talked about in the meeting, which are as follows:
- TRALA asked for 5-year exemption for Truck Rentals of 30 days or less
- FMCSA Granted a Limited 90-day Waiver for 30-day Rental Trucks
- Waiver ends on April 19, 2018
- FMCSA Also Granted a 5-Year Exemption for 8-day Rental Trucks
- Exemption ends in 2022
In addition, the policies and rules that we have as a company that our drivers must understand and complete before our trucks leave the yard were discussed.
